The following instructions are to help Microsoft Outlook users configure their email clients to use the EECS email server.

  • In Outlook, click File, then Add Account.
  • On the Auto Account Setup panel
    • Select Manual setup or additional server types, then click Next.
  • On the Choose Service panel
    • Select POP or IMAP, then click Next.
  • On the POP and IMAP Account Settings panel

      Fill in your name and EECS email address
      Account Type: IMAP
      Incoming mail server: mail.eecs.northwestern.edu
      Outgoing mail server: mail.eecs.northwestern.edu
      User Name: your EECS username (not your email address)
      Password: your EECS account password
    
    • Click More Settings
    • Select Advanced tab

      Incoming server (IMAP): Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL
      Outgoing server (SMTP): Use the following type of encrypted connection: Auto
      
    • Click OK
    • Click Next
  • If you get an Internet Security Warning panel
    • Click View Certificate...
    • Click Install Certificate
    • Click Next (Current User should be selected) click Next again and then Finish
  • On the Security Warning screen
    • Click Yes.
    • Click Ok till you return to the Internet Security Warning panel, then
    • Select Yes
