Mail server settings, webmail, and forwarding.
There are many ways to check your EECS email, including webmail, text-based at a terminal, and, of course, IMAP based (Thunderbird, Outlook, Gmail, etc).
IMAP
Use the following settings to configure your IMAP-based mail client, such as Thunderbird, Outlook, and Gmail.
INCOMING
Protocol: IMAP
Server: mail.eecs.northwestern.edu
Enable TLS/STARTSSL
OUTGOING
Server: mail.eecs.northwestern.edu

Webmail
The department’s basic webmail server is accessible here (N.B., you may need to accept the SSL certificate before you can use the site):

Text terminal
Using SSH, log into host login.eecs.northwestern.edu
and then use either mutt
(website), or pine
(website).
Mail Forwarding
Forwarding your EECS email to another account is easy. Log into login.eecs.northwestern.edu
with SSH and put your forwarding address into the .forward
file. For example, here’s how you can forward your mail to pred@example.com
without using an editor:
